Emmy Misner is a veteran teacher who currently works as the librarian at Viewlands Elementary and John Hay Elementary. She is a California transplant who arrived in Seattle in 1998 and has spent the years since teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. When not working she enjoys reading, volunteering for STG, tinkering on her computer, and spending time with her family which includes two UW students, her husband, and her crazy puppy, Phoebe. How I Got Into Education:  Growing up I loved going to school, but was nervous around my teachers and school counselors. I was a student in SPS schools, as well as catholic schools in Seattle. I know how important it is for students education, growth, and safety to feel connected to adults in their school building.  I wanted to provide a different experience for students than what I had while in school.

Hobbies: running, hanging out with my daughter, being outside, writing, reading, art, being with family and friends.

Hi, I'm Teacher Maddie! This is my first year as an IA and I'm in love with the work. I've always loved working with kids-- while working on my Master's in Library and Information Science, I completed a directed fieldwork at the Bryant Elementary library and fell in love with education. Now, I'm working on my teaching certification: I would love to work as an elementary librarian, preschool teacher, or elementary teacher. In my free time, I love to read, write, craft, go on city adventures with friends, and play with my kitty!
