Loyal Heights Elementary

Salmon in the Schools – UPDATE

Loyal Heights is once again participating in the Salmon in the Schools program. The eggs are from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. This year we have Coho salmon eggs. The eggs have been delivered and are growing in our salmon tank, located just inside the lunchroom. Students have the chance to check in on the tank and watch the developmental stages of growth.

After the eggs hatch, they go through a stage called the alevin. The next stage is call fry. This is when they really start to look like fish! After the fry have grown, they will be released in Carkeek Park sometime in April.

Stop by the tank and watch them grow.
