Fines/Lost Books
Fines/Lost Books at Loyal Heights Library
Library Notices
The notification system in Destiny Discover is a bit clunky. Please read the whole notice before contacting me about your book.
Amounts in Parentheses
An amount in parentheses on your notice is a REFUND. This means you likely paid for a book you thought was lost, that got returned at a later time.
Overdue Books
Books out for more than 60 days are automatically converted to LOST and a FINE is created.
If the book is returned, the FINE is deleted.
If the book is LOST, you can replace it as described below.
If you know you have lost a book, but it hasn’t been 60 days, you can let me know via email and I will change the designation to LOST so that the fine can be paid and the book can be replaced sooner for the community.
Paying Fines for LOST books
There are three options for paying fines for LOST books:
Fines for Lost books should be paid through SchoolPay on The Source. You can login to your account at The Source. You’ll find fines on the School Payments screen. You can also use the search feature to find library fees. Type “Library” into the search bar. You can pay using a credit card.
If you would rather replace the book with a new, HARDBACK copy, you are welcome to do so. This option is often less expensive. The student just needs to bring in the replacement andlet me know he/she is replacing a lost bookso that I can catalog the replacement properly and remove the LOST fine on his/her record.
If you are unable to pay the fine, please let me know and we can make other arrangements to clear the fine.
Whichever option you choose, please update me so that I don’t bother you with notices and emails. You can reach me at ccblangy@seattleschools.org
