Loyal Heights Student Artwork Spring 2024
Students explored various materials, tools, and artistic processes/techniques to focus on personal interests and create works of art. Students utilized art vocabulary to describe elements and principles of design to express preferences, describe subject matter and reflect on their own creations.
These are just a few samples by grade-level.
Kindergarten
Japanese Kite Fish
Students chose symmetrical texture patterns to create their Japanese Carp.
Passion Project Day
Students built 3D structures from spaghetti sticks and marshmallows.
Shape Castles
Students used shapes tiles to create castle designs. Our influence artist was Paul Klee.
First Grade
Pride Shape Art
Students used oil pastels and watercolor to reveal shapes, pictures and words! Our influence artist was Reginald Laurent.
Second Grade
Watercolor Landscapes
As part of a 21st Century Arts Common Assessments, students created landscapes with depth and texture.
Third and Fourth Grades
Herstory Puzzle Pieces
Students chose a woman they admired to complete a portrait study and research template. Students practiced grid-drawing and monochromatic painting. Our influence artist was Amy Sherald.
Fourth and Fifth Grade
Huichol Native Mexican Yarn Painting
Students studied the history and present-day significance of Huichol yarn painting. They then practiced concentric yarn art.
Ceramics Passion Projects
Students learned slab, coil and pinch-pot techniques to score, slip and blend clay. Student chose an object, animal or person they are passionate about.
