May is Bike to School Month
May is Bike to School month, a nationwide event designed to encourage bicycle commuting, mentor new riders and foster a love of cycling. Loyal Heights, an ideal neighborhood for bicycle commuting, will participate again this year. Our school made an incredible debut last year on the local bike to school scene by having a 27% participation rate in Bike to School month.
Students earn prizes by completing as many bike trips as they can and tracking the rides on a calendar. Six "Bike to School Morning Welcomes" are planned to greet students with healthy snacks and hoopla as they arrive at school on their bikes. See the calendar for morning welcome dates.
