Dear Loyal Heights Staff, Students, and Community,

I am honored and proud to have been officially appointed as the Loyal Heights Elementary Principal.

Since joining our wonderful school in November 2019 as your Acting Principal, I have enjoyed working towards successful outcomes with each student, family, and staff member I have had the opportunity to support. In my short time at Loyal Heights, I have discovered a strong and tight knit community that supports its members through celebration and adversity, and that overwhelmingly participates in a wide range of school functions. Through my ongoing conversations with various stakeholders, I have learned about the various strengths and needs of Loyal Heights, and I look forward to continuing to work with our community to realize its full potential for years to come.

Knowing next week is Staff Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to thank our unbelievably dedicated staff for supporting me throughout my time at Loyal Heights as if I was in a permanent capacity. Each staff member has worked with me to be the voice for Loyal Heights’ needs. I also want to thank the PTA and community at large for welcoming and supporting me in getting up to speed in all that I needed to learn, and for all that each of you do by participating in your children’s education at school and at home.

Finally, I want to thank our amazing students. Little Beavers, thank you! Your ongoing curiosity towards learning and your persistence will help us all make it through these challenging times stronger than before and with a clearer understanding of what it means to care for those in our families and in our community.

In reflecting on my first year as a head principal, I cannot help but laugh at the fact that I joined nearly three months into the school year, and that four months later, I would be leading a school through a pandemic. It has been quite the ride so far, but I would not reverse my decision for a minute to join Loyal Heights. In celebrating my good fortune, in no way do I wish to downplay the difficulty our current situation presents. I will continue to work with various stakeholders to support Loyal Heights now and with a lens to next year and beyond.

Thank you again for welcoming me into this wonderful community. I close by recommitting and re-pledging to lead on your behalf with Loyal Heights Elementary School’s best interests in mind.
